Real-time staff attendance

A phone app, a tablet kiosk and a live server for clocking in — redesigned from the ground up, on my own initiative.

The problem
The company's attendance app was simple but awkward: a plain list of times, confusing steps and bugs that slowed people down every morning. I suggested to my manager that I rebuild the whole experience.
What I did
- 01Redesigned the phone app: today's hours at a glance, weekly progress, history, leave requests with their approval chain, reports and notifications.
- 02Built the tablet kiosk at the entrance: a live, rotating QR code to clock in, plus who's present and who's absent.
- 03Wrote the real-time Socket.io server that connects kiosk and phones.
- 04Dark mode, offline-aware states and over-the-air updates.
